Make Skin Problems Ancient History
Throughout world history, people have used sour milk, mustard, sulfur, limestone, and even fire to exfoliate, brighten, and renew skin. Nowadays, thankfully, we have much more sterile and refined methods!

Our Chemical Peels
If you need gentle skin renewal without extensive peeling, Shot Bar’s PRX Derm Perfexion peel is your thing
PRX Plus is an advanced, in-office skin revitalization treatment designed to improve skin texture, hydration, and overall skin quality without needles or significant downtime. It is part of the PRX professional treatment portfolio and is ideal for patients whose skin is beginning to show visible signs of aging, dullness, or loss of elasticity.
PRX Plus works by delivering a specialized blend of revitalizing ingredients that support skin renewal and improve the appearance of tone, smoothness, and resilience. The treatment focuses on strengthening and refining the skin while maintaining the integrity of the skin barrier, making it a great option for patients who want noticeable improvement without aggressive resurfacing procedures.
PRX Plus is commonly used to address concerns such as fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged pores, dull or dehydrated skin, and early signs of aging. It helps support smoother, healthier looking skin while gradually improving overall skin quality.
Most patients benefit from a series of treatments spaced approximately two weeks apart, followed by periodic maintenance treatments to help sustain results. At Shot Bar Medspa, PRX Plus is a great option for patients who want visible skin improvement with minimal disruption to their daily routine. The goal is healthier, smoother, more refined skin that continues to improve over time.
How PRX Plus is Different from PRX Derm Perfexion
PRX Plus and PRX Derm Perfexion are both part of the PRX treatment portfolio, but they are designed for different skin goals.PRX Derm Perfexion is known for its collagen stimulating technology that helps activate deeper dermal regeneration. It is commonly used to improve skin laxity, acne scars, stretch marks, and overall skin firmness.
PRX Plus focuses more on improving skin quality and surface refinement. Its formulation includes ingredients such as homocysteic acid, ammonium trichloroacetate, citric acid, and phytic acid that help support skin revitalization, texture improvement, and brightness.
In simple terms, PRX Derm Perfexion is typically used when the goal is deeper collagen stimulation, while PRX Plus is often chosen when the focus is improving skin texture, hydration, and overall skin quality.
PRX C is a professional skin revitalization treatment designed to restore brightness, improve skin tone, and support overall skin radiance. It is part of the PRX treatment portfolio and is especially beneficial for patients whose skin appears dull, fatigued, or uneven due to environmental stress or sun exposure.
This treatment incorporates a stabilized form of Vitamin C along with other revitalizing ingredients that help support antioxidant protection and improve the appearance of skin clarity and luminosity. Vitamin C plays an important role in supporting collagen production while helping protect the skin from oxidative stress caused by pollution, sun exposure, and daily environmental factors.
PRX C is commonly used to address concerns such as dull skin, uneven tone, pigmentation, enlarged pores, and visible signs of photoaging. It helps restore brightness and clarity while improving the overall appearance of the skin.
Like other treatments in the PRX portfolio, PRX C is typically performed as a series of treatments spaced about two weeks apart, with maintenance sessions recommended to help maintain long term results.
At Shot Bar Medspa, PRX C is one of our favorite treatments for patients who want brighter, more radiant skin without downtime.
How PRX C is Different from PRX Derm Perfexion
PRX C and PRX Derm Perfexion are both professional treatments within the PRX portfolio, but they are designed with different treatment goals in mind.
PRX Derm Perfexion focuses primarily on stimulating collagen production and improving skin structure through dermal remodeling. It is commonly used for deeper rejuvenation, skin tightening, and improving the appearance of scars or stretch marks.
PRX C is designed to focus more on skin brightness and clarity. Its formulation includes a stabilized form of Vitamin C along with other revitalizing ingredients that help improve radiance, even out skin tone, and support antioxidant protection.
While PRX Derm Perfexion targets deeper skin regeneration, PRX C is often chosen for patients whose primary goal is brighter, more luminous skin and improved overall complexion. At Shot Bar Medspa, we help determine which PRX treatment is best suited to your skin goals during your consultation.
Advanced Corrective Peel in Chicago
This is where we move from maiJesntenance to correction. The Jessner Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel designed to target acne, congestion, pigmentation, and uneven texture. Using a blend of exfoliating acids, this treatment works to break down buildup within the pores while stimulating cellular turnover for clearer, smoother, more even skin.
This is a controlled, intentional treatment—not a fluffy facial. You can expect visible peeling and a few days of downtime as damaged skin sheds and healthier skin comes forward.
You’ll see:
- Improved acne and congestion
- Brighter, more even skin tone
- Smoother texture
- Reduced appearance of discoloration
Best suited for patients ready to take a more aggressive, results-driven approach to their skin. Not sure if you’re a candidate? We’ll guide you.
The Aura 365 Peel is a next generation, multi acid chemical peel designed to improve skin tone, texture, clarity, and overall radiance while supporting the skin’s natural renewal process. Unlike traditional peels that rely on a single acid or create excessive irritation, Aura 365 uses a carefully balanced blend of professional grade exfoliating acids and skin supporting ingredients to stimulate controlled cellular turnover. This helps lift dull, damaged surface cells while encouraging fresh, healthier skin to emerge. Patients often notice improvements in uneven tone, congestion, fine lines, acne, and overall brightness.
One of the advantages of the Aura system is its customizable approach. The treatment can be adjusted depending on skin type, concerns, and tolerance, allowing it to work for a wide range of patients. During treatment, the peel works by gently dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells while stimulating the skin’s regenerative processes. The result is smoother, clearer, more luminous skin with continued improvement in the days following the procedure.
Aura peels can also be enhanced with targeted boosters to address specific concerns. These boosters are optional add ons that allow the treatment to be tailored for concerns such as acne, pigmentation, texture irregularities, or signs of aging. By layering specialized actives with the base peel solution, the treatment becomes highly personalized, allowing providers to intensify exfoliation, support collagen stimulation, or calm inflammation depending on the patient’s needs.
Downtime varies depending on skin type and treatment intensity, but most patients experience mild redness followed by light peeling or flaking over several days as the skin renews itself. The end goal is healthier, more resilient skin that looks brighter, smoother, and more refined. At Shot Bar Medspa, Aura peels are often incorporated into long term skin health plans and may be combined with other treatments or medical grade skincare to enhance and maintain results.

For the Science Babes
Shot Bar’s chemical peels in Lincoln Park work in different ways. The AlumierMD Peels use a formula that lowers the pH of the skin, loosening the connections between dead skin cells, exfoliating, and stimulating new cell growth. Our PRX Derm Perfexion Reverse Peel penetrates the second layer of skin, treating your skin from the inside out. Your top layer of skin is bypassed—meaning no actual peeling occurs after your treatment.
The Play-by-Play
The Chemical Peel Process
Step 1
Consultation
First, we start with an in-person or remote consultation. A consultation allows us to get to know you, your health history, and your specific needs for your skin, health, and wellness. We answer any questions that you may have. Then, we come up with the perfect treatment plan and schedule your first session.
Step 2
Treatment
Your session for chemical peels in Lincoln Park will last about 30 minutes. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable in a treatment room and massage the peel solution into your skin, allowing it to absorb the active ingredients. We can also apply a moisturizer or the CO2Lift treatment to hydrate and prevent inflammation.
Step 3
Next Steps
The post-care instructions we give you will differ depending on the peel. If needed, we have a soothing after-care balm available for purchase that will keep your skin moisturized and help it heal faster. Your treatment plan may include post-care products to ensure your peeling results match your goals.

Questions? We've Got The Answers
Our chemical peels in Lincoln Park aren’t all the same. For our PRX Derm Perfexion Reverse Peel, there is no recovery time since it’s specifically created to not cause your skin to peel. Both of our AlumierMD peels usually take 3-5 days to peel, and your skin may be tender as your dermis heals. Your new skin may feel tight and warm, or it may look somewhat red immediately after a treatment, but that will improve within a few days.
Yes! We ask that you not come in for your appointment with lotions or other products on your face, including makeup. Don’t use any exfoliating products or treatments a week before your appointment, and stay out of the sun to avoid irritating your skin beforehand.
For our PRX Derm Perfexion Reverse Peel, you can wash your face immediately after treatment. But with our AlumierMD Glow Peel and AlumierMD Power Glow Peel, you’ll need to wait for 24 hours.
